RWA National Conference - First Day

Okay, first I should have wished all mac users a Happy iCal Day yesterday!

Also, I realize I'm going totally backwards in my timeline, beginning with the end. Now I'm back at the first.

There were no lines at the hotel or RWA conference registration - this is one of the first times that's ever happened, so yea! Well done. There never seemed to be lines with the maiden name, but since moving up in the alphabet...

I go down to the goody room. We'd made a display for people to "Win" The Worst Prize Ever. The gnome would be parked right beside the sign. But the goody room was locked up tight, so I walked through the lobby again carrying this horrible, horrible thing. And yes, people did ask me why I was clutching a gnome.

Gena Showalter and I had dinner and decided to split a meal. Isn't it strange how you can hang around someone, and yet still discover new things about them? We've been friends for a long time, and this is when I finally realized Gena likes her meat still mooing.

I guess Gena and I were having a little too much fun, because someone at a table next to me told me to Shhh! That my voice was giving them a headache!

Later I discover that Gena has broken our "gift's" hand right off. Here's the evidence:

Gnome's Broken Hand

The strange thing about it, I always thought he was made of wood. He looks carved. Anyway, here are some of the pieces we managed to find. Wednesday brings the gnome dilemma to the forefront - more on that tomorrow.

Pieces of the gnome's hand

She said your voice was giving her a headache?? Ouch. Can't imagine saying that to someone.

You know, we all spend an awful lot of time alone and typing. Sometimes we're excited on those first nights--just to be OUT.

All I know is that when I have a headache, Jill's voice SOOTHES it! Medicine to my soul, baby. Sadly, I was in the bathroom during this event or thunder would have boomed!

I, too, like my meat mooing. (Why does that sound so dirty?)

All this talk about the Gnome has me singing that silly Disney Movie Theme Song from ...
THE GNOMEMOBILE!

As far as your voice...Well, that was just plain ol' snarky snark from that person.
They probably waited until Gena was gone cuz they knew about her thunder.
Wonder Woman and Dyna Girl ...
Or was that Electra Woman?
Wow...that was awhile ago...

They said you gave them a headache? Jerkfaces! You have an awesome voice!

And I'm so with you, Jill. The cow should be dead when it arrives on my plate.
