Sorry if you're living outside the US, but I'm talking American Idol. AI is something I used to watch on a regular basis because I could view it with the kids, but with the their sports schedule this semester, it's not been happening. So I'm a little late on this whole Adam Lambert thing.
So after reading a bunch of people complain on Facebook that their DVRs cut off his performance, I had to check it out. This is the performance I first saw on Fox. (sorry, I'd post the actual video, but Fox won't let me do this and the youtube only had videos people filmed with their home video cameras, and that was a nightmare.)
So I watched his performance of Ring of Fire. I'm not even sure if I like this. Do I find this sexy, even? Was I too distracted by the silver zipper? This really needs further investigation! And just to make sure I really became a cougar, I watched it like 10 more times.
I listened to Johnny Cash with my grandparents, and it didn't sound nor looked anything like Adam. This guy can sing, wow, yes, he can sing. In fact, this guy has that quality that I think would make him a rock star. He could hang with Freddie Mercury.
So, tell me your thoughts!

You pegged him with the whole Freddie Mercury thing. He can definitely sing!
Too funny because I just blogged about him today. I have a minor crush on him and I'm not even really keeping up with AI. His rendition of Ring of Fire did nothing for me though.
But his version of Track of My Tears was awesome. :)
your blog is feel good
I'm trying to figure him out too...this guy is just an awesome singer as well as performer and surely outshines everyone on stage. I'm confused about the gay thing, though...is he? Don't get me wrong...I love him to death but put his name in at YouTube...one there was a little much...although...I still love him and I still think he should win!
I absolutely love this guy. He's hot, talented, and seems to be humble about the whole thing. He's very versatile and keeps us guessing. I would love to see him win this whole thing.
Now I loved Ring Of Fire. If every cover tune out there sounded exactly like the original, what would the point be?
And I don't care if he's gay or not. Talent knows no sexuality boundaries.
Adam is amazingly talented. He rocks my ever lovin' world. He's the best on the show this year. And every week he just gets better and better.
Mad World this week? Omg.
I've def been feeling the Freddie Mercury vibe. I think he is talented beyond measure.
Wasn't crazy about his version of Ring of Fire, but his vocals were/are/remain flawless.
He's amazing. I think he's already a winner and it doesn't matter if he actually wins or not. I'd be highly surprised if he doesn't win.
I <3 Allison too, though!
I thought there was only the Tears for Fears version. Then I later found out that there was indeed another arrangement by Gary Jules.
I found the 3 versions (Adam Lambert, Tears for Fears, Gary Jules) comparison video at

The Jules version is the sad version of Madworld and probably is a good one for singing contests like American Idol. If Adam did the Tears for Fears version, the judges might see it as just “karaoke” singing.
Thanks so much, Idolfan - I knew I'd heard the song before, but was only finding the Tears for Fears version, and I knew that wasn't it!
Can't wait to see what Adam has in store for us next week!
I'd love to hear him sing Queen. You totally hit it with the Freddie Mercury thing.
I loved his Ring of Fire rendition. However, I have heard that version before.
I love Adam, period. My fav going in to the comp was Danny Gokey, because of his back story. He's still a fav. But it's Adam I look forward to every week.
